Why :
Because water is a noncount noun and is a singular form, therefor it uses "this" instead of
"these". "These" are used for plural, countable nouns.
B.2 Rita is studying English and Math this semester.
Why :
"a/an" is used to modify non-specific or non-particular nouns while "the" is used for specific or
particular noun. In this sentence however, English and Math is an uncount noun and it means the
whole subject of English and Math therefore it doesn't need any article.
C.8 The army was ptacticing its drills. One group was doing artillery practice. The other was
marching, other was at attention and another was practicing combat tactics.
Why :
"The other" means the second of two things or people, "other" means additional or extra, while
"another" means one more, additional or extra.
